Additions to Help Improve the Game
This is the first time I've ever publicized my suggestions for any game, so I apologize beforehand if my ideas have already been suggested, are irrelevant to the community's worries, or are seen as preposterous.
For the most part, the ideas I've come up with are ways to improve the game as a whole. I am biased towards neither PvE nor PvP. I am a player who enjoys both aspects of this game, and strive to make the most of both areas. The suggestions I am about to make are not radical and in no way denounce the current system. They're "additions" that can help attract new and old players alike. Now, here we go:
To begin, I believe there should be a PvE title that enables people to have a /pverank emote--a title that is not limited and obligates one to spend a countless amount of time to go from one title to the next. This title should be achieved through the mindless grinding of high-level monsters. What brought me to this idea were the many Korean MMOs that I have played. What seems to attract most Asian players is the ability to grind to achieve a worthy goal. Not just any type of grind, either. Limitless grind! Being able to attain a /rank emote through grinding will be fuel for players who have already completed all the missions throughout the campaigns and are not interested in PvP. Furthermore, it can be used as great market material to attract more players in Asia. The market there is currently weak compared to what we have in America and Europe. Why is that? Well, I believe it is because GW PvE lacks competition. If PvErs are able to attain a way to compete amongst themselves, many more people will be attracted to this game, not just those in Asia. Epeen+++ for PvErs imo.
Secondly, players devoted to GvG are at a disadvantage when it comes to obtaining gold. I myself had no way to earn gold when I was devoting all of my play time to GvG. So here are a couple of suggestions I would like to make to improve this:
- Enable a way to trade Balth's Faction for gold. Those who are UAXed have nothing to spend their Faction on anyway. Something like 500g per 1K Faction sounds fair.
- Create a way to allow guilds to bet gold against each other during GvGs. In many Korean MMOs, guilds participating in a war against each other are able to make wagers. I believe a function like this would cause guilds to play better. Of course, I'm not saying that every guild has to accept bets... that would just lead to gold farming in GvG. (This suggestion was brought to me by a friend named Yon. Thanks Yon!)
My suggestions are not thoroughly detailed, but they are ideas that I think can help improve this game. If anyone is confused or has doubts, go ahead and raise any relevant questions within this thread. Give me your thoughts. If anyone thinks any of the ideas are outrageous just go ahead and blurt out what you feel.
Thanks.

I like the gvg ideas. Very nice
About the pve rank thing. It would be pointless to make a system like that while we have a character variable called "skill points." Those could just be used for the title, but that would reward solo/duo farmers. Maybe if each player on the team gets 1 point for killing a monster for each level above their own. Thus a level 28 monster would give 8 points to a level 20 player. Bosses would give double. Tahnnakai Temple would be packed for that title lol.

Souma`Ayame has been awarded the title "Tiger Slayer" for killing over 10000 tigers in Silk Road Online. I like the sound of that imo.
<3 Souma.

Faction to Gold conversion was suggested sometime ago.. but I think most people are against it (but I am not sure why....)
On PvE emot... I think the title server much of the same purpose. But having one might still be interesting... but how would you gaged the PvE performance? (maybe by how many title they have?)

For the PvE rank emote, I was thinking it can be obtained through grinding specific monsters, like the Sunspear and Lightbringer titles. But instead, it would be done on a higher scale... like let's say, to obtain Rank 1 you must kill 500 of said monsters... Rank 2 1500... Rank 3 4500, etc. Basically what I'm getting at is... In Korean MMOs, people are rewarded for every so-and-so levels... whether it be new equipment, new spells, etc. In Guild Wars, it would be nice to see a system like that implemented, except it would be like... For every three ranks of this title, you would get a different /pverank emote (kind of like HA titles, except obtained through PvE).

I think Guild Wars got a lot of the beginning stages of their ideas from other games already. the idea of "Ascension" and allot of the available classes are used in Ragnarök Online. The skill chaining for Assassins come from Diablo (Or some other game I'm thinking of. No flames allowed). Ritualists... Well... That is something rather new to me. haven't seen that in a game yet, save summoners and others alike, but spirits? That's ingenuity.
A.Net is good at using other games as a catalyst for ideas and then taking it a step further.

mrrr.... read the stickies. One idea per thread. It makes it easier for others to respond,
The "farm for faction" Idea is bad. Imagine RA getting worse with PvE farmers.
GvG players are deficient at gaining gold??? That's exatly the same thing as saying any PvE player is at a disadvantage when they don't get Balthazar faction for killing monsters. It has no use for them.

/a big YESSSS to any form of spending the Balth Faction!
I UAX'ed Nightfall in 1 month and stopped gaining faction, which sucks alot. I even bought that Razah for 50k (before nerf) just to keep gaining faction for 2 more days.
There are plenty of ways that fb could be possibly spent, I'm preparing a detailed article on it.
Also i have nothing against gvg wagers, i think some (not many) guilds would like it, and having another option is always good.

If you want to see what happens if you can convert PvP faction to gold, go into Fort Aspenwood.
The conversion there is even worse than what you suggested (1000 faction to 400 something gold), and that place had leechers around the clock, from 1-3 per match.
Now imagine that happening in every pvp arena.
A big nono.

faction for gold is a bad idea im afriad, it would just results in more afkers in PvP and considering the big arguements about PvP and PVE being mixed up this would make it even worse, Faction is for PvP its not ment to affect PvE in anyway.

Awesome, 400g for a nights worth of afk pvping. You do realise how long it takes to build up 1000 balthazar faction in arenas?
